The City of Kamloops is located in the interior of British Columbia, Canada’s westernmost province. Situated along the scenic Thompson River, the city’s wastewater treatment facility currently serves a population of over 80,000 people and treats a daily flow of 40,000 m³ (10 mgd), a number which would soon increase to 60,000 m³ (16 mgd).

During an inspection, it became clear that one major culvert – 140 feet long, 15 feet tall and running under heavily traveled Route 30 – had outlived its expected life. The 10-guage corrugated steel structure was deteriorated and needed to be repaired – with as little disruption to Route 30 traffic patterns as possible.

In September 2021, the Veszprém wastewater treatment plant engaged Sanitaire to provide diffuser liquid cleaning service, which uses formic acid injected into the main aeration pipe to clean the diffuser membranes while they are operating.

In 2002, the EPA entered into a federal consent decree with MSD, mandating the elimination of sanitary sewer overflows and significant mitigation of combined sewer overflows into receiving waterways. Tasked with transferring water from settling ponds to a frac pond for project in mid-Western U.S., a specialist water provider to oil and gas drilling companies needed a pump capable of handling a complex operation through a seven-mile-long steel pipeline.

Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water’s Hirwaun water treatment works is a small works (5Ml/d) which treats raw water from the Penderyn upland reservoir. Treatment is by coagulation with ferric sulphate and lime, flocculation and clarification by DAF. The clarified water is dosed with lime and this is followed by first stage filtration in four rapid gravity filters, intermediate electrochlorination and orthophosphoric acid dosing, and second stage filtration in four pressure filters. Final disinfection is by electrochlorination. The original electrochlorination plant was an Evoqua OSEC® packaged unit installed over twenty years ago and had reached the end of its asset life.

Ace Services, a farm implement manufacturing company contaminated the groundwater from inappropriate discharge of their chroming process. The company has since gone out of business and the project is now part of an EPA Superfund Cleanup.

A Midwest manufacturer of automotive parts was experiencing elevated levels of zinc in the effluent from their existing conventional wastewater treatment system.
