The utility Roslagsvatten in Sweden needed a more efficient way to inspect its pump stations. It decided to test Avensor Remote Inspection from Xylem, a brand-agnostic hardware kit that sends live video, audio and data to operators. The solution reduced pump station visits by 50%, giving operators more time to focus on crucial tasks.

Appalachian Hydro Associates (AHA) in Ravenna, Kentucky, was seeking to develop a more cost-effective model for small hydro projects. AHA partnered with Berea College to offset the upfront investments, then began planning a small hydroelectric power plant at an abandoned lock chamber along the Kentucky River. With five Flygt hydro turbines from Xylem, the plant is now a source of revenue for the college, producing 500 kilowatts of energy per turbine.

South Coast Mariculture wanted to better understand the water quality conditions of their mussel farms in Jervis Bay, located in New South Wales, Australia. After deploying Xylem’s YSI buoy with EXO2 multiparameter sonde, they now have data that can help them increase productivity, better understand the water column, and expand their aquaculture business.
