Xylem as turnkey contractor for the new pumping stations in Bromstensstaden

A successful wastewater infrastructure project in one of Stockholm’s growth areas

Stockholm is growing, placing new demands on the water and wastewater system. One of the city’s new development areas is Bromstensstaden in north-western Stockholm, located on the former Bromsten industrial site. Bromstensstaden will comprise approximately 1,600 residential units surrounding a central park, along with a preschool, workplaces, and retail premises.

The challenge

Stockholm Vatten commissioned two new pumping stations for Bromstensstaden, including one main pumping station. The project comprised the delivery and installation of pumps, mechanical services, ventilation, electrical systems, control and monitoring, building automation, as well as interior structural fit-out for both pumping stations.

The solution

With extensive expertise across the entire water cycle, Xylem offers a comprehensive portfolio of water technologies. In the Bromstensstaden project, Xylem ensured that every stage of the process met the highest standards of quality and performance.

Three Flygt 3301 wastewater pumps were installed in the main pumping station. Designed to deliver efficient, clog-free pumping, the pumps feature N-impellers – a proven Xylem innovation.

The Flygt 3301 pumps ensure reliable operation, with the long-standing Flygt brand continuing to meet the high operational demands of modern pumping stations.

Close proximity to Xylem’s service organization ensures reliable performance over time. Xylem has service locations across Sweden, complemented by support from its network of 25 service partners.

“Our role as a turnkey contractor made it possible to ensure quality and functionality in every part of the project. The result is a reliable solution that meets both current and future requirements.”
Andreas Funck, Project Manager, Xylem

The result

Thanks to Xylem’s role as the turnkey contractor, the pumping stations are fully commissioned and enable the continued development of Bromstensstaden.
