How Dynamic & Demand-Based Mixing Can Drive Efficiency and Save You Money

In a recent article on Arab Water World, Xylem’s Magnus Fahlgren spoke at length on the benefits of dynamic and demand-based mixing in wastewater applications. Here's an excerpt:

Over the past 20 years some aspects of the water industry, particularly pumping and aeration, have seen a significant increase in the use of variable flow pumps and blowers as well as smart monitoring and control technologies that match the water or air flow rate with the real-time need. In wastewater mixing however, there has been little such advancement and traditionally the same degree of mixing is continuously applied regardless of the fact that slower or faster mixing speed may be required at different times. Ensuring just the right mixing by enabling a mixer to adjust its thrust, dependent on whatever the present need is, delivers a three-fold benefit of minimizing power consumption and delivering cost savings while enhancing the sustainability of treatment operations.
