Metropolis of Nice: hypervision platform for integrated, digital water management

The consequences of climate change, such as floods and droughts, coupled with increasing regulatory pressures, have intensified challenges for water utilities. In this context, the Metropolis of Nice has implemented a hypervision platform, based on the Xylem Vue technology, to increase efficiency, sustainability, and resilience by providing a unified, real-time view of the water network.

The platform connects and leverages data from multiple systems, breaking down silos, and enabling predictive analysis and faster decision-making. It has developed a digital twin of the drinking water network to simulate different scenarios, and also provides advanced information on the best energy production options. In addition, it helps the IMREDD Institute analyze how drought and floods can affect the Var Valley. The platform anticipates anomalies, optimizes operations, and strengthens resilience to extreme climate events. It also improves communication with citizens, which is particularly important during periods of water stress.

The project is the result of the collaboration between Eau d’Azur water utility, Xylem, and University Côte d’Azur, and is supported by the Innov’eau program under ADEME’s France 2030 plan. Learn how this modular, interoperable hypervision platform is transforming daily operations in the French utility.
