Hong Kong: development of digital twin pilot for trunk mains water systems in selected areas of New Territories East Region

Challenge

This project aims to build and calibrate a hydraulic model for trunk mains water systems in selected areas of New Territories East Region and deploy the model through Idrica’s Real-Time What-If-Scenarios solution (now called Xylem Vue).

Solution

The adoption of the Real-time What-If-Scenarios solution for the freshwater trunk mains in selected areas of NTE Region has provided a tool for WSD to carry out real-time monitoring of the water network in a virtual environment and visualize real-time operations of the trunk mains.

Training has been provided to WSD's team of specialists to monitor and predict real-time and future (24 hours) hydraulic behavior and simulate potential hydraulic impacts based on different scenarios.

Outcomes

The network´s hydraulic model was developed to simulate and carry out what-if scenario analysis in the pilot project. This aimed to measure the impact of operational changes such as water main isolation and change of supply zone.

Idrica brings its experience as a pioneer in digital transformation, as well as its advanced knowledge in the development and implementation of hydraulic models for real-time what-if scenarios, to the entire process.
