The new Rimnersbadet indoor pool complex in Uddevalla spans 5,400 square meters and required a robust, energy-efficient system to manage heating, cooling, and water supply. To fulfill these needs, the installation firm Brion decided to collaborate with Xylem, marking the start of a long-term partnership.
The Challenge
In Sweden, many new indoor pool complexes are currently under construction, including the new Rimnersbadet in Uddevalla. These facilities handle large amounts of water and heated air, placing high demands on HVAC installations and energy efficiency.
Rimnerbadet opened in June 2024 and features a 50-meter pool with 10 lanes, a teaching pool, a family pool, and a café. During its construction, Brion reached out to Xylem and requested energy and water meters, circulation pumps, and UV-filters.
The Solution
Instead of working with several different suppliers to provide the necessary meters, circulation pumps, and UV-filters, Brion chose Xylem as a comprehensive supplier. Thanks to its broad area of expertise, Xylem was able to offer a full-cycle solution – and fewer suppliers meant a simplified process.
Xylem delivered Sensus PolluStat and PolluTherm for energy metering, Sensus MeiStream for water metering, Lowara ecocirc XLplus and e-LNE for circulation, and Wedeco UV filters for water purification – all proprietary Xylem brands.
“Working with Xylem means a long-term partnership,” says Johan Wennberg, Department Head at Brion. “While other supplier can be hard to reach when questions arise, Xylem has knowledgeable salespeople available locally. Our cooperation doesn’t end once the products have been delivered; Xylem provides long-term solutions.”
During construction a new need arose – pressure boosting of the water supply. Thanks to the close contact between Brion and Mattias Nordblom at Xylem, a solution was quickly found, despite pressure boosting not being a part of the original project. The Lowara GHV pressure booster with the intelligent Hydrovar X variable speed drive was installed, solving the problem.
The Lowara GHV pressure booster was equipped with three pumps to ensure redundancy and high efficiency during the large variations in flow rates that can occur at pool complexes.
The result
Xylems broad expertise in HVAC, combined with its local presence, enabled an effective installation. Thank to Brion’s collaboration with Xylem, the residents of Uddevalla now enjoy a swimming complex with top-class cooling, heating, and water supply systems.
