Supplier Opportunity

Program Overview

Xylem recognizes the importance of providing business opportunities to suppliers across all communities. We are committed to attracting a high-caliber supply chain, including small businesses and suppliers that reflect the broad spectrum of markets we serve.

Our Supplier Opportunity Program focuses on creating economic value, job opportunities, and innovation through increased competition, strategic sourcing, and building relationships with a range of businesses across the United States. All supplier selection decisions are made on a non-discriminatory basis in compliance with applicable law. We aspire to be a partner of choice for suppliers with different backgrounds. When our partners flourish and prosper, the communities they serve share the benefits. When our communities succeed, we all win.

Business Classifications

Xylem recognizes businesses that have been certified by federal, state, or local government agencies or supplier advocacy groups. These businesses usually fall under one of the following categories, including but not limited to:

  • Small Business Certified 8(a)
  • Small Disadvantaged Business
  • HUB-Zone Small Business
  • Women-Owned Business
  • LGBT-Owned Business
  • Veteran-Owned Small Business
  • Service-Disabled, Veteran-Owned Small Business

For suppliers to qualify for the Small Business Program, suppliers must be self-certified as a small business within the applicable small business-size standards as defined by the Small Business Administration (SBA): www.sba.gov

Xylem also uses national and regional third-party advocacy organizations to provide accurate certification status: 

  • National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) - www.nmsdc.org 
  • Women's Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) - www.wbenc.org
  • National Women Business Owners Corp (NWBOC) - www.nwboc.org

Registration

Xylem’s sourcing process is designed to ensure equal and fair treatment of all suppliers. Registration ensures participation in a competitive procurement process.

We will invite suppliers to participate in sourcing events such as requests for quotation (RFQ), requests for proposal (RFP), and/or requests for information (RFI).

We ask suppliers wishing to participate in this process to fill out the form to register them in Xylem’s Supplier Opportunity Database. This will enable Xylem’s procurement professionals to access key information about potential suppliers, including capabilities, certifications, product/service descriptions, and contact information.
