Inconsistent Level Sensors

Application

This anomaly type is applicable to wastewater pumping stations that fulfill the following requirements:

  • The station is equipped with an analog level sensor and a high-level switch.
  • The configured start level for each pump is available in Avensor.

The anomaly type is disabled for controllers that have an equivalent alarm.

Description

Users are notified of this anomaly if the high-level switch is activated and the analog sensor measures a water level that is less than the configured start level of any pump.

Possible causes

  • Faults or clogs in the analog level sensor
  • Faults in the high-level switch
  • Incorrect level configuration or switch position

Description of the chart Inconsistent level sensors

The chart shows the measured water level and the running status of each pump in the station for when the high-level switch was activated.

Evaluation of chart, example 1

The chart shows that at 10 AM, the high-level switch was activated when the measured water level was less than the start level of the pump. The event was isolated.

Evaluation of chart, example 2

The chart shows that since 8 AM on March 17, the pumps run at the signal of the high-level switch instead of the analog level sensor. Thus, both pumps start at each pump cycle instead of alternating.

Evaluation of chart, example 3

The chart shows that the signal of the water level sensor was flat (equal to zero) when the high-level switch was activated.

Disable the anomaly type

If the behavior that is identified as an anomaly is normal for a station, the anomaly type should be disabled. For more information, see "How do I enable or disable an anomaly type?" under Event FAQs > Anomalies
